Dr. Lisa Jones Wilborn

Dr. Lisa Jones Wilborn grew up in Fort Payne, Alabama. She attended the University of Alabama, where she graduated in 2002 Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. degree in Biology and minor in General Business. While attending the University of Alabama, Dr. Wilborn received one of the Premier Awards on campus, the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award. This award recognizes excellence in character and service to humanity. Dr. Wilborn’s other collegiate awards and honors include College of Arts and Sciences Ambassador, Outstanding Senior, President of Omicron Delta Kappa honor society, President of Phi Delta Sigma pre-Dental Society, and Secretary of Phi Eta Sigma honor society. Upon receiving her degree from the University of Alabama, Dr. Wilborn received a Dental Merit scholarship to attend the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in Birmingham.

As a dental student, Dr. Wilborn held various leadership positions including: University of Alabama School of Dentistry Admissions Committee, University of Alabama School of Dentistry Admissions Hostess, Alabama Association of Women Dentists Vice President, Japanese Exchange Delegate, Junior Class Vice President, and Sophomore Class Vice President. Upon graduation from dental school in 2006, Dr. Lisa Wilborn was awarded numerous honors. She was recognized for being on the Dean’s List each quarter for all four years of dental school, inducted into the exclusive Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society, and received an additional four awards for scholastic achievement and clinical excellence: American Association of Orthodontists Award for exceptional interest in the development of the oro-facial complex, American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry Award for most clinical proficiency and greatest interest in esthetic dentistry, Leon H. Schneyer Award for being the outstanding student in Basic Sciences, and the Alpha Omega Scholarship Award for attaining the highest scholastics average for four years of dental studies.

Dr. Wilborn immediately entered the orthodontic residency program at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry after graduating dental school. Dr. Wilborn successfully completed the Phase II written examination of the American Board of Orthodontics in April 2008. She completed her three year residency program in April 2009. In addition, she earned her M.S. degree with her master’s thesis entitled, “African American Soft Tissue Profile.”

Dr. Lisa Wilborn married her high school sweetheart, Brett Wilborn. Dr. Wilborn and Brett are looking forward to raising their two daughters, Ansley and Baylor, in Gadsden and are excited about getting involved in the Gadsden community.
